About Us
The Institute for Applied Poultry Technologies (IAPT) was formed in 2012 by poultry industry stakeholders. It is a not-for-profit entity established to evaluate novel and innovative cost saving poultry health technologies that will enhance biosecurity, prepare for disease outbreaks before they occur, reduce input costs, improve product quality and consumer confidence, and aid in safely exploiting niche high value add commodities such as Antibiotic Free/Animal welfare approved products that will open/expand international market access. The IAPT is a Technology Innovation and Commercialization center focused on Applied Poultry Technologies. The goal of the commercialization of these technologies is to secure Competitive Advantage and Enhance Access to International Markets for Western Canada’s Poultry Industry. The secondary objective of this institute is to provide the Western Canadian poultry industry with a full range of high quality, cost-effective, veterinary and laboratory services to:
1. Maximize the health, welfare and productivity of their livestock
2. Improve food quality and safety and, thereby, to contribute to the profitability of the industry.
3. Build a professional team of specialist veterinarians, scientists and support staff, implementing continual professional development, and providing the equipment and laboratory facilities appropriate to this objective.
